MONEY DIARIE HOW TO

I’m more than happy to go to couples therapy, I just need to figure out how to bring it up to him. I’m feeling incredibly anxious as each week passes that we won’t be prepared at all, or that the money will fall on me and I don’t have it. I want to bring this topic up again but don’t want him to feel attacked. It feels like things keep sliding over to me because I simply have it available. I’m feeling resentful as the breadwinner that we don’t have a budget. Not talking about money leads to bigger issues and 3. I know money is hard to talk about but 1. My husband always gets uncomfortable/defensive talking about money, so our conversations are usually cut short. I really want him to go back to school and get a degree so he can pursue a higher paying job. He’s a very responsible person, I just feel he’s been very babied. I feel like his parents tried to help him a lot during his twenties and gave him their used cars and still pay for his car insurance. He does not have any debt as he did not go to college. My husband has been working at the same job for 14 years. My husband however, is the complete opposite of me. Now that I have a stable income I try to put money into my savings account every paycheck (usually $100) and then automatically put $15 from my checking account into my savings every month. I’m also very frugal because I spent all of my twenties working 3 jobs in order to make barely bread crumbs.

Also my mom is VERY anxious around money. I’m a naturally very frugal person, partly because my mom raised me to be that way as my dad was the only working parent and didn’t make a ton of money. I need advice on the following: how to bring up money with my husband. We also found out that we’re having a baby this December! It’s been a busy two years! My husband and I got married last summer and also bought a house in the winter of ‘21. I commute 45 minutes each day and with gas it’s been a big drain. I spent my twenties unsure of what to do (lots of waitressing, nannying, working as a paralegal) before getting my masters in education. I work as a teacher in New York and am 36 years old.
